Leave and coverage without the spreadsheet

This is for leads who plan work in Jira but still learn about PTO from last-minute messages — and for people who need a real request record, not a calendar block alone.

Problem

On-call, PTO, and deliverables pull in different directions. Spreadsheets and Slack threads do not show who is actually away, who covers the pager, or what Jira work is still due.

How it works

  1. 1.Install Timeaway for Jira from the Atlassian Marketplace.
  2. 2.Set up the Team Leads group, teams, and leave types in Settings.
  3. 3.People request PTO with balances and optional deliverable handoff notes.
  4. 4.Leads use the team calendar and heatmap before assigning the week; swap on-call in-app when coverage shifts.
