Advanced: Skills Studio & Rovo

What skill tags are

Skill tags are labels you apply inside WorkPulse when you log time. Jira already knows how long you worked on an issue — skill tags record what kind of work it was, and roll those hours into a personal skill record you can use later.

Each tagged worklog contributes toward a running history for that skill: hours, tickets, and projects. That history is the backbone of a resume-building skill record — evidence of coding, mentoring, client work, reviews, and more — without reconstructing the year from memory at review time.

Prepackaged tags and your own

WorkPulse ships two prepackaged groups you can pick from any time you log. You can also create personal tags for skills specific to your role (for example TypeScript or Forge) — up to 5 personal tags, 40 characters each — in Settings → Set Skill Tags. Built-in tags do not count toward that limit.

Review & recognition (2)

Tags for moments you want to call out later — peer recognition and formal review evidence. If your site also uses High Five: Review Hub, these tags sync automatically into that workflow.

  • HighFive — recognition-worthy work to surface in High Five.
  • PerformanceReview — entries you want in a performance-review packet.

Activity type (20)

Built-in activity tags for the nature of the work. Always available in the tag picker:

  • Meeting
  • Standup
  • Planning
  • Coding
  • Code Review
  • Testing/QA
  • Bugfix
  • Deployment
  • Documentation
  • Design
  • Strategy
  • Research
  • Analytics
  • Reporting
  • Mentoring
  • Onboarding
  • Customer/Client
  • Support
  • Admin
  • Email/Comms

Skills Studio

Skills Studio charts tagged hours for the period selected in the sidebar (this week, last week, or this month). Use it to see your skill mix — not just total hours — and to identify which tasks and projects are driving each skill.

WorkPulse Skills Studio showing hours by skill tag
  • Log with tags — when you use + Time, Quick log, or Stop on a timer, pick one or more tags (prepackaged or personal).
  • Default tags per ticket — on My Week, use the tag control on a row so the next log on that issue pre-fills those skills.
  • Export portfolio — load a full review year from Jira (Excel, CSV, or PDF), optionally filtered to one tag such as PerformanceReview. One row per ticket: ID, title, work summary, Jira link, and hours.

Ask WorkPulse in Rovo

The WorkPulse Rovo agent answers questions grounded in hours, risk, and compliance for your org. Typical starters: who is under-logging, which projects look high risk. Expect on the order of ~10 Rovo credits per action from your Atlassian org plan.

WorkPulse Rovo agent panel
  • Open Rovo in the WorkPulse left rail (or Ask WorkPulse from Rovo).
  • Ask about team hours, compliance, or risk — answers stay inside your Atlassian context.
