Rollup rules & banners
Rollup rules control how level, compartment, and release combine into the page banner and in-page markers, and how banner text maps to Confluence group names.
Open Data Classification → Define Rollup Rules.
Rollup calculation
When a page contains multiple classifications, Classifier:
- Collects all markings (macros and converted typed markers).
- Deduplicates by level + compartment + release.
- Selects the lowest score (strictest) at each component.
- Builds the final string using your format rules.
Authors see the result in the rollup confirmation dialog before save completes.
Format settings
| Setting | Typical value | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Component order | Level → Compartment → Release | Banner segment order |
| Major separator | // |
Between level, compartment, release |
| Release prefix | REL TO |
Before release countries |
| Banner display | Labels or abbreviations | What appears in page banner |
| In-page display | (TS//SCI//…) style |
Inline macro appearance |
| Level colors | Per level | Banner and marker colors |
Group naming
These settings derive Confluence group names from the banner:
| Setting | Example | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Group prefix | cls- |
Prepended to every group name |
| Group separator | - |
Replaces // in group names |
| Use full classification | On | Full banner string in group name |
Example banner Top Secret//SAP//REL TO USA might become group cls-top secret-sap-rel to usa.
Manual text conversion
When enabled, typed classification markers in the editor are converted to classification macros on save so they participate in rollup and permissions.
