Troubleshooting
Common issues and how to resolve them.
Save blocked — missing group
Symptom: Error on save; message about banner group or missing group.
Cause: No Confluence group matches the configured name for the rollup banner.
Fix:
- Note the banner from the rollup dialog.
- Apply group prefix and separator from rollup rules.
- Create the group with the exact name in Confluence.
- Save the page again.
Configure notify admin on missing groups if desired (Restriction Approach settings).
Banner updated but users need old group
Symptom: Banner shows new classification; users still denied or old group still required.
Cause: Permissions were not updated — banner may have come from a resync or partial save.
Fix: Open the page for edit and save again, confirming rollup so permissions update.
Page behaves like a restricted program space
Symptom: Everyone needs classification group even in a "normal" wiki.
Cause: Classification restricted enabled in Space tools, or wrong space config.
Fix: Space admin → Space tools → Classifier → turn off classification restriction unless intended.
Selective mode but all macros visible
Symptom: User sees classified paragraphs they should not.
Cause: User is in the banner group or is a Confluence/space administrator.
Fix: Expected behavior for those users. Test with a non-admin user who only has space View.
View-only user can still edit
Symptom: Edit UI appears or edits succeed for view-only collaborator.
Cause: Confluence Edit permission still granted on page; UI hiding is not the security boundary.
Fix: Review page content restrictions; remove Edit from groups that should be view-only.
Classifications not appearing
Symptom: No banner, no macros on view.
