How access works

Classifier maps page classifications to Confluence page restrictions. It does not bypass Confluence — it sets who appears on the page restriction list.

Layers

Space permissions → default for all pages in the space
Page restrictions → override for this page (Classifier sets these on save)
Classification group → Confluence group matching the page banner

Confluence administrators and space administrators retain administrative access.

On save

When an author confirms the rollup:

  1. Page View/Edit restrictions are replaced with configured grantees.
  2. The banner classification group always receives View + Edit.
  3. Administrators and space admin grantees are preserved.
  4. Space default grantees are included in selective mode, excluded in most restrictive mode.

Group-only policy

Access is granted to groups, not individual users, on classified pages. Manage clearance by adding users to the appropriate Confluence groups.

Alignment rule

Banner text, stored page properties, and permission groups must match. If authors change classification without a successful Classifier save, users may see the wrong banner or need the wrong group.
