Viewing classified pages
What you see depends on your groups, the restriction mode, and whether the space is classification-restricted.
Everyone
- Page banner at the top when the page is classified
- Unclassified inline content (in selective mode)
- Color-coded markers around content you are allowed to see
Selective restriction mode
| Your membership | What you see |
|---|---|
| Banner group | Full page, all macros, edit if granted |
| Space/page View, not banner group | Page shell + Unclassified + macros matching your groups; other macros blank |
| No page View | Page not accessible |
Edit buttons may be hidden for view-only users; Confluence Edit permission still controls whether edits are actually allowed.
Most restrictive mode
| Your membership | What you see |
|---|---|
| Banner group (+ admins) | Full page |
| Not in banner group | Page not accessible |
Classification-restricted space
You must pass both:
- Space View/Edit grant, and
- Page classification group membership
Administrators retain admin access.
Macros in edit mode
In the editor, classification macros show their marking for authors. View mode applies access rules and may render empty for unauthorized classifications.
Banner vs live content
The displayed banner is the saved value on the page. If content changes without a save through Classifier, the UI may indicate that rollup needs update — publish again and confirm rollup to realign banner and permissions.
